🚗 The “Pass on the First Visit” Driver Checklist
Don’t let a $5 lightbulb de-activate your income. Use this checklist to prep your vehicle before your Fast Auto Check inspector arrives.
🟢 Exterior & Visibility
- Headlights & High Beams: Ensure both are functioning and lenses aren’t heavily oxidized.
- Turn Signals: Check front and rear, including side-mirror indicators if equipped.
- Brake Lights: Have a friend stand behind the car while you tap the pedal (don’t forget the high-mount center light!).
- Windshield: Ensure there are no cracks in the driver’s line of sight or chips larger than a dime.
- Wiper Blades: Check for tearing or streaking. If they squeak, replace them.
🟡 Tires & Brakes
- Tread Depth: Use the “Penny Test.” If you can see the top of Lincoln’s head, your tires are likely too worn.
- Tire Pressure: Ensure the TPMS light is not illuminated on your dashboard.
- Brake Performance: If you hear grinding or feel a pulse when stopping, address this before the inspection.
🔵 Interior & Safety
- Seatbelts: Click every single belt into its buckle to ensure they lock and retract properly.
- Door Handles: Verify all doors open and lock from both the inside and outside.
- Windows: All power windows must roll up and down completely.
- Dashboard Lights: Your “Check Engine,” “ABS,” or “Airbag” lights must be OFF.
- AC/Heat: Ensure the climate control can clear the windshield defroster quickly.
⚪ Documentation
- Registration: Must be current and valid.
- Insurance: Must be up to date and meet your platform’s specific requirements.
Pro-Tip: If you find a burnt-out bulb or a torn wiper blade today, a quick trip to an auto parts store will save you from a “Failed” report and a re-inspection fee tomorrow!
